Easy Christmas

Easy Christmas

Carlos informa:

Various --  Snow  3 -- The Get Easy Christmas Collection Vol 3 .  Universal (Germany), 1960s/1970s

One of the grooviest Christmas albums we've ever stocked -- a package that's full of unusual Holiday gems, yet which never trades obscurity for the festive spirit of the season! Like the first 2 volumes in the series, this one really digs deep -- moving past familiar favorites into a range of long-lost tunes from the vaults of a variety of labels -- some by bigger names, others by artists as obscure as the tunes! But throughout this pursuit of the unusual, the album never sacrifices the warmth and good spirit that makes Holiday music so great -- and if anything, these tunes seem to light our Christmas stars even brighter because they're fresh and unusual, and restore our faith in the music of late December! And just in case you feel you're getting a bit off track on the set, the compilers have thrown in a few more familiar numbers to hold you in line -- making for a well-rounded 24 track package that includes:

1. Andy Williams · It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
2. Ella Fitzgerald · Sleigh Ride
3. Wayne Newton · Here Comes Santa Claus
4. Bobby Sherman · Goin’ Home (Sing A Song Of Christmas Cheer)
5. Gladys Knight & The Pips · The Christmas Song
6. Smokey Robinson & The Miracles · I Believe In Christmas Eve
7. The Beginning Of The End · Gee Whiz, It’s Christmas
8. Dean Martin · I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm
9. Peggy Lee · Ring Those Jingle Bells
10. Vince Guaraldi Trio · Christmas Time Is Here
11. The Staple Singers · Who Took The Merry Out Of Christmas?
12. The Stridells · I Remember Christmas
13. The Rotary Connection · Peace At Least
14. Rhys O’Brien · Christmas Morning
15. The Singers Unlimited · Snowfall
16. The Temptations · Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
17. The Free Design · Close Your Mouth (It’s Christmas)
18. The Beach Boys · Frosty The Snowman
19. Bing Crosby · A Christmas Toast
20. The Candy Store · White Christmas
21. James Brown · Soulful Christmas
22. The Flirtations · Christmas Time Is Here Again
23. Luiz Henrique · Song Of Santa Claus (Papai Noel)
24. Nilsson · Snow

 Hello Hello: The Best Of

Claudine Longet, the very model of the breathy, sexy French waif as the US and world audience perceived her - film star, TV star, singer/notsinger, a fey presence in a beautiful forest, where The A&M SOUND enveloped her in an embrace of Bossa Nova and reverb while Nick De Caro and Tommy Lipuma, masters of The A&M Soun, took us all on a journey where being a singer or not a singer didn't matter as long as the languid erotic vibe was there. A journey where A.C. Jobim came and wrote and played, where there was a PARTY, and Henry Mancini wrote, as he had done for Audrey Hepburn, the perfect song/notsong, for the ethereal beauty Claudine to sing/notsing as Peter Sellers desperately searched for the bathroom and Blake Edwards collapsed laughing. A magical person in a magical world, in a magical time, "Sleep Safe And Warm" never had a more definitive reading, as Claudine brought her own take on 'vaga' to the non-latino world, and if you know what that all means you'll RUSH out and buy this...

Don Lennon

Don Lennon

Deliciously, he (Shane McGown) was allocated Room 101 at the excellent ghost-ridden Hotel Continental in the Medina. Note that his bedfellow is not a person, but a pile of books. I get annoyed when some people compare Mr MacG to Ozzy Osbourne or the late George Best, as if all legendary over-indulgers are alike. I doubt those other two notably dissipated names are as literary-inclined as Mr MacG, whose collected lyrics were published by Faber & Faber. His travel bag included works by Joyce, Plato, Burroughs, Kerouac, Dorothy Parker, and the entire James Ellroy LA Confidential trilogy. There is decadence, and then there is Decadence.

Old fashioned country and western music. Sad and sweet original songs by vocalist/ lead guitarist Lana rebel

Juanita Family was formed by Lana Rebel (from the noise-rock band Last of the Juanitas) as an outlet for the all the country songs she kept writing on the side. Her sad, sweet vocals and simple guitar lines encouraged the makeup of a separate band. No better choices for backup than some of her oldest friends, including Johnny from Last of the Juanitas (on drums), and Ben Wildenhaus of Federation X (on lap slide and piano). Dylan Reilly (bass) and James Curley (mandolin) are friends all the way back from Arizona. The combo is a great mix of friends, who lives to play, and the live shows are always a good time.
In a completely DIY fashion, Lana and Dylan worked hard and saved money to put out the self-titled CD released in September of 2004. After touring and playing in rock venues, roadhouses, parties, crawfish boils, festivals, rodeos, radio stations, and street corners across the country, they are proud to report having nearly sold out of the 1000 pressing in the first year, with little help from national distributors.
The CD has received positive response from radio stations across the globe, including BBC Radio 1, which has invited the Juanita Family to record a Peel session in 2006. Regionally, it continues to get airplay, and was chosen as best Northwest Country by KBCS Seattle’s Christine Linde

BENOIT HENNEBERT

BENOIT HENNEBERT

"When you love music, you want everything related to it, closely or not, to be beautiful too."
Benoît Hennebert, December 1984.

"Peter Saville certainly defined the post-punk look which reflected the modern world that
Factory Records were forcing us to confront. I appreciate Saville but, to be honest, if I was
influenced by anyone it was Benoît Hennebert of Les Disques Du Crépuscule. Eccentric,
charming and very much a genius."
Mike Alway (éL Records/Cherry Red), May 2004.

LTM PUBLISHING - 2ª PARTE( DEVINE & STATTON)

LTM PUBLISHING - 2ª PARTE( DEVINE & STATTON)

"Me and Alison had mutual friends. I liked her voice for what anybody would like about it - the absolute purity that I felt was the perfect vehicle for The Song. It was like a clean sheet, something you could project anything on to and it would fit. Maybe I also felt that if she sang these very personal songs, there would be an abstract quality to her voice that would create a disengaged relating of the tale, in the same way an actor would perform a spoken word CD."

"Cardiffians" (("I met people in Japan who had visited Cardiff because of Cardiffians", remarks Devine) por su parte contiene cinco extras (Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue (12" Version), Advertisement, Hideaway (Donini/Mertens Remix), Take Me Or Leave Me y Giving In To Sin) y otro nuevo texto de Everett True.

(We got married in a fever hotter than a pepper sprout
We been talkin' 'bout Jackson
JOHNNY: Ever since the fire went out
I'm goin' to Jackson, I'm gonna mess around (yeah?)
Yeah, I'm goin' to Jackson, look out Jackson town... )
