Old fashioned country and western music. Sad and sweet original songs by vocalist/ lead guitarist Lana rebel

Juanita Family was formed by Lana Rebel (from the noise-rock band Last of the Juanitas) as an outlet for the all the country songs she kept writing on the side. Her sad, sweet vocals and simple guitar lines encouraged the makeup of a separate band. No better choices for backup than some of her oldest friends, including Johnny from Last of the Juanitas (on drums), and Ben Wildenhaus of Federation X (on lap slide and piano). Dylan Reilly (bass) and James Curley (mandolin) are friends all the way back from Arizona. The combo is a great mix of friends, who lives to play, and the live shows are always a good time.
In a completely DIY fashion, Lana and Dylan worked hard and saved money to put out the self-titled CD released in September of 2004. After touring and playing in rock venues, roadhouses, parties, crawfish boils, festivals, rodeos, radio stations, and street corners across the country, they are proud to report having nearly sold out of the 1000 pressing in the first year, with little help from national distributors.
The CD has received positive response from radio stations across the globe, including BBC Radio 1, which has invited the Juanita Family to record a Peel session in 2006. Regionally, it continues to get airplay, and was chosen as best Northwest Country by KBCS Seattle’s Christine Linde
