Curioso el título del single,  "Lloyd, I’m ready to be heartbroken", sin duda un homenaje al "Are You Ready to be heartbroken" del primer LP de LLoyd Cole 

 

 

Tras el exquisito aperitivo que fue el single "I love my Jean", donde mostraban una vez más su facilidad para componer melodías inolvidables, por fin podemos anunciar el retorno de CAMERA OBSCURA con un buen número de nuevas canciones que componen lo que será sin duda para todos el mejor disco del grupo hasta la fecha.

"Let’s get out of this country" -título del nuevo y tercer álbum del grupo de Glasgow- fue grabado en diversos estudios de Suecia (estudios donde han grabado y mezclado desde THE MAGIC NUMBERS hasta Neneh Cherry o Per Gessle de ROXETTE), y producido por Jari Haapalainen, productor de maravillas como THE CONCRETES o Ed Harcourt. En este disco, que saldrá por fin a la venta en junio, CAMERA OBSCURA apuesta por el pop clásico y atemporal teñido de country y de soul, con diez canciones impecables donde la preciosa voz de Tracyanne Campbell se deja envolver por preciosos arreglos de cuerda (para los cuales contaron con músicos que han acompañado en directo a Brian Wilson o a Arthur Lee & LOVE).

El primer single, que saldrá a la venta en mayo, será "Lloyd, I’m ready to be heartbroken": un tema de country soul con un ritmo irresistible y un final exultante, en el que Tracyanne se las arregla para cantar hasta seis estribillos sin que se resienta la estructura de la canción. Al revés, uno se queda con ganas de que lo vuelva a cantar una y otra vez y que la canción no acabe nunca.

Tropicalia is one of the most significant cultural movements in Brazil encompassing music, film, visual art and theatre.
‘Tropicália’ is the first album to bring together all the key artists involved in the movement – Os Mutantes, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Tom Zé, Gal Costa and more.

The Tropicália movement was born in 1968, a momentous year around the world. In Brazil, army violence that killed three protesters in the opening months of 1968 failed to keep students from protesting the four-year-old repressive Brazilian military dictatorship. It was against this extraordinary backdrop that Tropicália arrived.

Mixing psychedelic rock, avant-garde musique concrete (tape loops, sound experiments), samba, funk and soul, Tropicália was so radical – and its social implications so politically profound - that its leading protagonists, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, were arrested, imprisoned and finally exiled in 1969.
Tropicália’s unique ideology mixed high art with mass culture. Tropicália created musical and cultural anarchy, a revolution in Brazilian sound with a legacy later to be international

Recopilación de Saturday Looks Good To Me

Between the release of their three full-length records, Saturday Looks Good To Me has created a total of 12 EPs, 7-inches, singles, and tour CDs, all limited, sold-out and highly sought after by fans. Sound on Sound collects these impossible-to-find tracks, presenting 30 songs recorded from the band's inception in 2000 through its most recent sessions in 2005. The record moves in chronological fashion through five vocalists, including the band's earliest singers who had not yet been featured on full-length releases, and about 20 other musicians, in different combinations on most songs. In the disc's nearly 80-minute running time, evolution is evident, but each song delivers a very different take on rock pop perfection and Saturday Looks Good To Me's broad acceptance of pop music history, as Sound On Sound stuffs the best of the band's unavailable music into one amazing and somehow cohesive document.

we can confirm that the 2nd single from "The Life Pursuit" will be "The Blues Are Still Blue". It’s going to be released in the UK on April 3rd. Once again we’re utilising the old 3-format thing. The CD comes backed by "The Life Pursuit" and "Mr Richard", which have both been getting aired at the live shows. The 7" has B&S’ version of "Whiskey In The Jar", and the DVD has the video of "The Blues..." (shot recently in LA) and "Roy Walker (Live At The Botanics)". Quite a lot of you are in that I would imagine, as it’s far more crowd-focused than the "Lazy Line.." one off "Funny Little Frog"

La Sexta promete

Van a emitir las nuevas series de los creadores de Seinfield y Frasier:

La Sexta ha comprado los derechos de las series ’Curb your enthusiasm’, ’The Office’, ’Entourage’ y ’Out of Practice’, producciones que más han destacado en las grandes cadenas norteamericanas en las últimas temporadas y que han contado con el apoyo unánime de la crítica, lo que las ha convertido en series de culto en EEUU.

En ’Curb your enthusiasm’, Larry David, creador de la mítica Seinfield da un giro de tuerca al concepto de sitcom. En esta particular comedia, el protagonista se interpreta a si mismo mostrando imágenes de la vida cotidiana del creador que son recogidas por una ubicua cámara que le sigue durante el día. Irónico y desordenado, diluye rápidamente las líneas que dividen la ficción y la realidad para convertir al protagonista en un personaje que se encarna a sí mismo.

 

 Una particular familia de médicos son los protagonistas de ’Out of Practice’. Ben Barnes (Christopher Gorham, ’Medical Investigation’) encarna a un consejero matrimonial muy concienzudo, pero cuya familia no considera como un "médico de verdad" debido a la especialidad profesional que ha escogido y que todos rechazan. El resto de los miembros de la familia sí que son "médicos de verdad": el hermano de Ben, Oliver (Ty Burrell, ’In Good Company’) es un cirujano plástico atractivo y egocéntrico que disfruta “ligando” con las mujeres más guapas de la ciudad, algunas de las cuales él mismo ayudó a retocar y su hermana Regina (Paula Marshall, El gafe) es una adicta al trabajo que vive pendiente de las urgencias de un gran hospital. Sus padres, (Henry Winkler, "Scream: Vigila quien llama" y Stockard Channing, ’El ala oeste de la Casa Blanca’) médicos también, están separados y discuten cada vez que se ven. En el fondo tiene que ser siempre Ben el que ponga un poco de orden y cordura a las situaciones que se generan. Los creadores de Frasier han logrado en esta producción de la CBS reunir a más de 12 millones de espectadores de media.

 

La vida de un joven actor de éxito y el “séquito” que le rodea se ven reflejadas en ’Entourage’. Vince (Adrian Grenier, "La guerra de Hart") sabe que en una posición de éxito es difícil mantener los pies en el suelo y por eso decide llevarse a sus amigos de siempre a que le acompañen por los extraños vericuetos de la vida de Hollywood. Eric, (Kevin Connolly "John Q") Drama (Kevin Dillon, "Platoon") y Turtle (Jerry Ferrara, "Grounded for life") serán compañeros de viaje en la carrera de Vince mientras ven pasar ante sus ojos la vida exagerada, excéntrica y en ocasiones despiadada e implacable de la llamada meca del cine. Esta producción de la HBO, ha congregado a más de 2 millones y medio de espectadores semanalmente y la unánime acogida de la crítica especializada. La producción de la NBC realizada como un falso documental, incluso ironizando sobre el género, ’The Office’ se ha convertido en uno de los referentes de la temporada de los EEUU. Michael (Steve Carrel, "Como Dios") es el gerente de una empresa papelera en Pensilvania y su voz actúa como la de un narrador que cuenta la vida cotidiana de la oficina. Pero a esta versión oficial se suman muchas otras voces que parecen no estar de acuerdo con el estrafalario gerente. Pam, (Jenna Fisher, "Miss Match") la amable recepcionista; Jim (John Krasinsky Kinsley) un agradable vendedor; Dwight, (Rainn Wilson, ’A dos metros bajo tierra’) el pedante asistente de Michael; son algunos de los componentes de este particular espacio de trabajo, al que pronto se les unirá Ryan, (B.J. Novak) un joven con contrato temporal que pronto se dará cuenta de que en esta oficina nada es lo que parece. Casi 10 millones de espectadores siguieron la primera temporada de esta serie elogiada por la crítica. Estas series norteamericanas se suman a las ya adquiridas por La Sexta: ’Everybody Loves Raymond’, ’King of Queens’, ’Surface’, ’The E-Ring’ y ’Comander in Chief’ que formaran parte de la parrilla de La Sexta junto con reconocidos profesionales del medio como Emilio Aragón, Olga Viza, Juán Ramón Lucas, Florentino Fernández y Yolanda Vázquez.
